The death of a loved one, whether family or friend, is never an easy time. A funeral is used to mark the end of a persons life on earth, a time when the persons life on earth is remembered, and the person is commended into Gods kingdom. Whether the person, or their family, attend church or not everyone is entitled to a funeral service and to have their ashes buried in the local parish church yard. Normally, only residents of the Parish may be buried in the Churchyard. If the local parish churchyard is closed, the local authority will provide a suitable location. The minister can carry out a service at the local authority location instead of the church if desired.
The funeral service itself can be a big ceremony with lots of people attending, or a quiet affair. A communion service can be included.
